The Department of History at Boston College invites applications for up to three Visiting Assistant Professorships, beginning September 2017. Appointments are renewable pending successful annual reviews for a maximum term of three years. Visiting faculty will typically teach a year-long Core course, “Globalization I and II,” focusing on Early Modern and Modern history from a global perspective and covering the period c. 1500 to the present. These courses contribute to the History Core Program, through which all undergraduates at Boston College develop a foundational knowledge of modern history and the ability to interpret and use primary sources. Visting faculty will also be expected to carry out their research and to contribute to the intellectual life of the department. Salary is $68,500 plus $5,000 in research funds.
