Researcher, Sports in the Military Exhibition (Contract Position 4-5 months)
Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is located on board the former U.S. Navy aircraft carrier Intrepid, which served in World War II, the Cold War and Vietnam War. During Intrepid’s period of military service, the U.S. military drew upon athletics to train service personnel, provide recreational outlets and improve morale on the home front. Over the decades, prominent athletes served in various branches of the U.S. Armed Forces often playing critical roles. We are seeking an independent researcher/writer/historian who is versed in U.S., military and sports history and leadership. This project will result in a detailed proposal/survey identifying possible dynamic storylines and viable checklist from which to create a physical exhibition (objects, paper materials, media). (Please note that Intrepid’s exhibit spaces are not climate controlled). Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
