Postdoctoral Research Scholar JOB#16560 The School of Historical, Philosophical & Religious Studies (SHPRS) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a postdoctoral research scholar in social thought, political history, and/or political institutions to begin Fall 2021. Preference will be given to candidates whose research and teaching focuses on European, British, or American political history. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, fiscal-year (July 1-June 30) appointment. Renewal is possible on an annual basis contingent on satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and needs of the program. The successful candidate will be affiliated with the SHPRS undergraduate program in Political History and Leadership and will teach history courses in support of the program. The position carries a 2-2 teaching load. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute a minimum of 10 hours per week to participate in the activities of the program and to contribute to its development, both at ASU and in the wider community. SHPRS is committed to recruiting a diverse workforce. Required qualification: candidates must have a Ph.D. in history, philosophy, political science, or a field relevant to this position by time of appointment. Candidates must be within five years from receipt of their doctoral degree. Desired qualifications: evidence of achievement and promise in research and writing in intellectual history and social thought; a demonstrated ability to teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses relevant to political history via various modes of delivery (ex. classroom, hybrid and online).
