Two Year Non-Tenure Track Position in Modern Jewish History and Culture

QUALIFICATIONS: We seek candidates with a PhD in Jewish history; specialties might include Holocaust studies, Sephardic history and heritage, Eastern European history, or modern Jewish intellectual history. Candidates should be able to offer a survey course in Holocaust and courses on other aspects of Jewish history and experience in modernity. Broad knowledge of the Jewish tradition and its texts, as well as proficiency in Hebrew, is essential. Candidates do not have to be affiliated with the Reform Movement. Position start date: July 1, 2021. RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching students in the Louchheim School for Judaic Studies (which serves undergraduates at the University of Southern California), the School of Rabbinical Studies, the School of Education, and the Zelikow School for Jewish Non-Profit Management, and online across our four campuses. All HUC-JIR faculty members are expected to participate in the communal and religious life of a Reform Jewish seminary and Jewish communities.
