Assistant Professor, History of Race
Position Description The Department of History at the University of Chicago invites applications for an assistant professor in the history of race as it intersects with capitalism, empire, political economy, or economic life. We seek scholars whose work centers on Africa, the Americas, and their Indigenous, colonial and diasporic histories from the beginnings of European colonization to the present. Among the goals of this search is increasing the diversity of the faculty in the Department of History, and we therefore welcome applicants from groups that are historically underrepresented in the academy. Qualifications Candidates must have completed all requirements for the PhD degree prior to the start of the appointment.
