Advanced Assistant/Associate Professor in the American Civil War Era
The Department of History in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, invites applications for an associate or assistant (tenure-track) professor in the American Civil War Era (1850-1877) to start in August 2022. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment. To be considered, candidates should have a strong record of research and publication and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. A candidate hired at the associate rank will be appointed to the Alumni Distinguished Chair. Scholars in all fields of Civil War Era U.S. history will be considered. The position carries a 2/2 teaching load. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two upper-level courses, “The American Civil War” and “Rebellion to Reconstruction, 1
