The School of Historical, Philosophical & Religious Studies (SHPRS) through its undergraduate certificate program, Political History and Leadership (PHL) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for two Postdoctoral Scholar positions in political history, and/or political institutions to begin Fall 2022.  Preference will be given to candidates whose doctoral degree is in History or related field.  Both positions are full-time, benefits-eligible, fiscal-year (July 1-June 30) appointments. Renewal is possible on an annual basis contingent on satisfactory performance, availability of funding, and needs of the program. Opportunities for teaching will be dependent on academic unit of the candidate’s disciplinary field.

Successful candidates will be affiliated with the SHPRS undergraduate program in Political History and Leadership. This teaching/research fellows will be mentored by Donald Critchlow, lead in PHL.  A successful candidate will be expected to teach at the minimum a 2-1 annual teaching load and contribute minimum of 20 hours per week to activities of the program; its curricular development to the Program in Political History and Leadership and educational projects sponsored by the program and school; and research and publication in the field of specialty.

Required qualification:  candidates must have a Ph.D. in History or a field relevant to history.   Candidates must be within five years from receipt of their doctoral degree. 

Desired qualifications: evidence of achievement and promise in research and writing in political history broadly defined, as well as a demonstrated ability to teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses relevant to Political History and Leadership.
