Valparaiso University invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor, in the Department of History.  Valparaiso University (“Valpo”), a community of learning grounded in the Lutheran tradition of scholarship, freedom, and faith, prepares students to lead and serve in both church and society. This one-year position begins in August 2023. We encourage candidates with expertise in Modern World History, this is an open call, but with preference for individuals with an ability to teach Japan, Africa, and/or Middle East history preferred. Teaching responsibilities will include three or four classes a semester, including our CORE seminar for first-year students. Ideally, individuals will have an earned doctorate in an area of history by the position start date, but we will consider ABD applicants.
