The Department of History at Louisiana State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in colonial or early North American history (pre-1800). Responsibilities include teaching the early US History survey to 1865, advanced undergraduate courses in area of specialization, and participating in the department’s graduate program. Sub-field is open, but we welcome candidates whose expertise includes the histories of race, slavery, or settler colonialism in the colonial American, Caribbean, or Atlantic context. Our department is dedicated to the goal of building a culturally diverse and pluralistic faculty and we encourage applications from members of groups underrepresented in History. Additionally, we seek candidates whose research, teaching, or experience has prepared them to contribute to diversity and inclusion in higher education.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in History and evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarship.
Teaching load of two courses per semester; salary competitive and commensurate with qualifications. The appointment begins August 2024. An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
