The Department of History at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant professor in the history of the pre-modern or modern Middle East, broadly defined. Chronological period and thematic specialization are open, although preference will be given to candidates whose research interests complement strengths in the department, which include but are not limited to environmental history, religion and politics, and history of science, technology, and medicine.
The successful candidate will teach survey courses in Middle Eastern and World History, be able to teach on the modern Middle East and develop specialized courses at the upper-division and graduate level. Expectations also include advising undergraduate and graduate students. The normal teaching load is 2/2.
In addition to teaching in the department, the new faculty member may also contribute to the Core Humanities Program and work with other faculty and high school teachers to develop dual credit courses on World History through UNR’s Collegiate Academy.

The College of Education and Human Development at the University of Nevada, Reno (R1) invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time Assistant Professor in Secondary Social Studies Education beginning in Fall 2022. The Department of Educator Preparation seeks candidates who are committed to promoting diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning and working environments. The position is comprised of the traditional components of research, teaching, and service. The successful candidate will maintain a rigorous scholarly research agenda in an area relevant to Social Studies Education at middle and high school levels. The University’s Office of Research and Innovation supports faculty in conducting research, scholarly, and creative activity. The faculty will teach courses in Social Studies Education and other areas related to Secondary Education. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advising graduate students in the secondary M.Ed. program; advising and mentoring doctoral students in Curriculum and Instruction; collaborating with campus, community, and state education partners; engaging in clinically-rich teaching experiences; participating in program develo...pment and accreditation processes; collaborating with colleagues to maintain and grow our secondary licensure programs; and providing service and outreach to the university and to the profession.
