Job Summary
The Department of History, Anthropology, and Philosophy at Augusta University seeks a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of the History of China, to teach in-person for an undergraduate History program and online for a graduate program in Security Studies. Must be able to address the history of China from a national security standpoint, broadly construed. Other specialties and subfields open, with preference for candidates able to address the history of women, gender, or sexuality. Appointment to begin August 2025. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and display a compelling research agenda. Earned doctorate in History required, awarded prior to appointment. The successful candidate will teach 3 classes a semester, including survey courses in US history, as well as upper-level and graduate courses in Chinese history, and potentially other courses in the candidate’s areas of interest. Standard duties for academic-year faculty include teaching undergraduate History courses, mentoring students, maintaining a strong research program, and providing service to the Department, College, and University.
Responsibilities Include:
Teaching courses as assigned; holding office hours, providing timely grading and student feedback; adhering to all academic policies of the University; maintenance of a high quality research program; attendance at faculty meetings and other required university functions; and publication of peer-reviewed scholarship.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Earned doctorate in History at time of appointment.
Required Experience
Demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness with students from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Preferred Experience
Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate level history, both in person and in online asynchronous courses.
Conditions of Employment

Those with degree from a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
Salary
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
