ABOUT THE POSITION: The History Department at the University of Alabama in Huntsville is taking applications for a one-year lecturer position with the possibility for renewal. The Dept. is seeking a 19th-century/early 20th century US historian who will teach US and world surveys with a preference for those who can teach Civil War and Reconstruction, antebellum southern history, and Alabama history.
Responsibilities: The regular teaching load is four courses (12 credit hours) per semester and will include online and in person formats. The candidate will teach world history and US history surveys, with the possibility of an upper-level course in the candidate’s specialization. They will be expected to perform some department and College service as part of their appointment.

Qualifications: Preference for a PhD in History, although ABD candidates will also be considered. PhD must be in hand prior to the position starting. Experience teaching required, preferably with both online and in person format. Familiarity with using LMS (ie. Canvas, Blackboard) required along with a commitment to active, student-centered teaching.

RANK: Assistant Professor in Intelligence and Security History
ABOUT THE POSITION: The Department of History at the University of Alabama in Huntsville is taking applicants for a tenure-track position in Intelligence and Security History. Preference is for candidates with a specialization in modern US history, and/or the ability to teach foreign relations, and/or military history. This candidate will support the creation of an interdisciplinary graduate intelligence and security program. The successful candidate will ideally engage with and form partnerships with colleagues at Redstone Arsenal, the FBI, and other area agencies. Candidates who have practical experience working in intelligence, national security, or a related field are especially encouraged to apply.
The teaching load is three courses (nine credit hours) per semester and may include online, hybrid, and traditional formats. The candidate will teach modern world history and/or US surveys, as well as upper-level and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of specialty.
