Job Description
The Department of History at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a Teaching Assistant / Associate Professor position non-tenure-track, 12-month contract specializing in United States history. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will serve as the department’s Concurrent Enrollment Administrator, supporting the Collegiate Academy dual credit program in collaboration with a tenure-track faculty member. Collegiate Academy provides high school students with the opportunity to earn college credit through history courses taught in their schools. The person in this role will act as the primary point of contact for participating high school teachers, coordinate with both UNR and K-12 administrators, and support virtual and in-person classroom site visits across the state. They will assist in organizing a summer workshop and professional development day for teachers involved in the program, and work closely with the department’s Undergraduate Advisor to recruit students into the History major at UNR. The position also includes teaching one standard UNR course per semester, aligned with departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise—this may include HIST 101C (U.S. History to 1877), HIST 102C (U.S. History since 1877), and a graduate seminar designed for Collegiate Academy high school instructors.

The College of Education and Human Development at the University of Nevada, Reno (R1) invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time Assistant Professor in Secondary Social Studies Education beginning in Fall 2022. The Department of Educator Preparation seeks candidates who are committed to promoting diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning and working environments. The position is comprised of the traditional components of research, teaching, and service. The successful candidate will maintain a rigorous scholarly research agenda in an area relevant to Social Studies Education at middle and high school levels.
