The Department of History at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, in New Brunswick invites applications for a full-time senior scholar in African American history. We seek applications from candidates specializing in any thematic area within the field of African American history. We are particularly interested in applicants whose work focuses on the long nineteenth and early twentieth century, and whose scholarship contributes to one or more of our program’s strengths, including gender and sexuality, urban history, and the global Black freedom struggle. We also encourage applications from scholars whose research and teaching interests intersect with the university’s initiatives in public history, law, and the environment.
