The successful candidate will have a record of teaching and scholarly engagement with technology from social, historical, political, aesthetic, or other disciplinary perspectives. Historians or scholars who integrate historical methods and critical approaches in their work are encouraged to apply, as are applicants with interests related to the study and use of artificial intelligence in society and culture.

Teach courses, primarily at the undergraduate level. A typical teaching load is three courses per semester, but during the first two years of the appointment, a reduced teaching load of two classes per semester can be anticipated, to provide time to establish a research program and develop courses. Faculty also may use funds from externally sponsored research programs to reduce their teaching loads.
Support existing programs, including course development and student advising, in the general education program as well as degree programs such as the B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, M.S. in Information Design and Technology, and/or M.S. in Data Science and Analytics.
Maintain an active research program.
Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams that pursue external funding.
Engage in professional or academic activities in campus-based, local, regional or broader communities in an effort to make a positive impact and advance the recognition and reputation of the College of Arts & Sciences and SUNY Poly.
Other reasonable duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. earned by the date of appointment in a humanities discipline or interdisciplinary field, from an institution accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized organization.
