The Department of History and Program in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Dartmouth College invite applications for a position as a Mellon Teaching Fellow at the intersection of Asian American and/or Asian diasporic histories and women’s, gender, and/or sexuality studies. This is a two-year position. The successful candidate will complement our existing curriculum by teaching one introductory course in Asian American history and one first-year seminar in each of the two years of the appointment, as well as two courses per year in their areas of expertise.
The Mellon Teaching Fellowship at Dartmouth supports early career scholars in the humanities. It is intended to foster innovation and experimentation in the undergraduate curriculum, while providing experience in the core teaching areas of a particular discipline.
Terms: 2-year appointment, 4 courses/year over 3 terms with a 2-course equivalent for curricular projects and professional development (for a total of 6 courses and 100% benefits eligibility). One of the courses each year should involve some innovation in the curriculum (such as a new topic not currently offered). This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits.

PhD in History or a closely related discipline, or ABD with degree conferred by the start date. Dartmouth can provide J-1 visa sponsorship for eligible candidates (otherwise applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. prior to employment).

Cover Letter, addressing all relevant aspects of the position description;
CV, including contact information for three references (two of which should be able to comment on teaching experiences and/or interests);

Research statement (optional), outlining past accomplishments and future plans.
Review of applications will begin February 15, 2026 and continue until the position is filled. Additional materials, including reference letters, will be requested of semi-finalists. Inquiries about this position can be addressed to Professor Golnar Nikpour at golnar.nikpour@dartmouth.edu.
