Position Description The Department of History at Georgetown University invites applications for a tenure-line faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the history of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The appointment is to begin on August 1, 2023.  The Department seeks an historian of the early modern to modern “Near East” (Mashriq), corresponding to the former Mediterranean provinces of the Ottoman Empire: Egypt, Israel/Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey. Candidates must specialize in the social and cultural history of the MENA and be proficient in Arabic and Arabic sources.
